persons who already know us through their travels and visits. We also hope
to engage many others who, because of time, distance, or other obstacles,
have not heretofore availed themselves to the rich array of material
preserved and presented by this highly-regarded institution.
Fort
Meigs State Memorial
Perrysburg, Ohio
The Site - Built in 1813 to defend the Ohio Country against British
invasion, Fort Meigs constitutes the largest wooden walled fortification in
North America. Today the fort stands rebuilt on its original location within
a 65 acre wooded park. The ten acre fort is enclosed by a stockade wall and
contains seven blockhouses, five cannon batteries, and numerous interior
eight foot high earthworks.

Museum
The National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center is a 20 minute drive
from downtown Dayton, Ohio, and is located 1 mile west of State Route 42
North, adjacent to Central State University.
Armstrong
Museum
Named in honor of Neil Armstrong, first man to set foot on the moon, this
museum in Wapakoneta chronicles Ohio's contributions to the history of space
flight. The
Castle is one of the best
executed examples of Gothic Revival style architecture in Ohio. Interior
architectural details include a scagliola fireplace mantle, coodge
papier-mache moldings, and floor to ceiling shutters on the parlor's bay
window. The house, once the home of Ohio Senator Theodore Davis, is
furnished with items of historical significance to the area, as well as
those typical of the Victorian Era. Educational programs, special events,
and changing exhibits are featured throughout the year. The Carriage House
Visitors Center includes introductory exhibit and videotape on the history
of the site and its families that resided in The Castle. The Historic House
Museum is on the National Historic Register.
Cincinnati Fire Museum ..
Over 200 years of firefighting history is on display in the museum. Visit
exhibits of early leather fire buckets, an 1808 fire drum and the oldest
surviving fire engine in Cincinnati, a Hunneman hand pumper, or jump into a
modern Emergency-One fire engine cab and wail the siren, ring the bell and
flash the lights! At the
Cleveland Museum of Natural
History we encourage people of all ages to discover and explore the
natural world. Our curators care for over a million specimens in the fields
of anthropology,
archeology, astronomy, botany, geology, paleontology, zoology, and
wildlife biology. The
Health Museum of Cleveland’s eagerly anticipated new exhibit halls
and Frohring Education Center, slated to open in Fall 2003, will revitalize
the E. 89th – E. 90th block of Cleveland’s Euclid Avenue.

Dr Bob's Home .. A
stock broker from New York, Bill W. had traveled to Akron, Ohio on May 12,
1935 for a shareholders' meeting and proxy fight, which did not turn out his
way. Fighting desperately to maintain his sobriety, his immediate reaction
was, "I've got to find another alcoholic." - Starting in an upstairs room at
Dr. Bob's home at 855 Ardmore Avenue, in Akron, the two men began helping

Cassidy Museum
One of the largest collections of cowboy memorabilia
in the Eastern United States, with over 10,000 hard-to-find pieces. The
collection focuses on Roy Rogers, Hop along Cassidy and Gene Autry. Many
items of other TV and B-movie cowboy stars; The Lone Ranger, and John Wayne.

The Kent
State University Museum is a cultural treasure chest,
with nine galleries exhibiting costume and decorative arts from around the

about the people and the machines that shaped the sport and industry of

"probably the finest museum in America devoted to pre-European
history," the Ohio Historical Center is both the headquarters of the
Ohio Historical Society and a museum facility showcasing Ohio's history from
the ice age to the year 1970.

The Ohio River Museum consists of three exhibit buildings, the first of
which houses displays depicting the origins and natural history of the Ohio
River.

The Statehouse Education & Visitors Center interprets the state
capitol's history and significance for the public, and guides school groups
in their study of government, citizenship, and Ohio history.

Village
The Ohio Historical Society opened the Ohio Village on 27 July 1974, to
provide an entertaining means of learning about life in 19th century Ohio.
Shaker
Historical Museum
The Shaker museum is housed in a local mansion overlooking Upper Shaker
Lake. The museum exhibits a large collection of Shaker objects.
Thomas Alva Edison,
inventor of the phonograph, the incandescent light bulb, and many other
devices that make our lives fuller and simpler, was born in Milan, Ohio, in
1847. The Edison Birthplace Museum
features a collection of rare Edisonia, including examples of many of
Edison's early inventions, documents, and family mementos. The Birthplace is
open February through November and is located at 9 Edison Drive in Milan,
Ohio (near Exit 7 of the Ohio Turnpike).
